Oral Arguments tomorrow at Appellate Court
in Student Prayer Act "Moment of Silence" case
The United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit will hear Oral Arguments, tomorrow, in the Student Prayer Act "Moment of Silence" case. Oral Arguments will be heard at 9:30 a.m. in the main courtroom of the Appellate Court at the Federal Building in downtown Chicago, 219 South Dearborn Street.
IL Atty Genl Lisa Madigan disagrees with Dawn Sherman and me
on the "Moment of Silence" case, but we remain good friends.

Both sides have filed their Briefs in the case. Each side will be given 20 minutes to present final arguments before the case is decided. The three judges hearing the appeal will debate the matter with the legal teams from each side.
A decision in the case is likely to be announced in late May or early June, so that any change will not disrupt public schools with a last-minute change during the current school year.
My daughter, Dawn, took on the entire Illinois General Assembly and won, successfully challenging the constitutionality of the Illinois Student Prayer Act just days after it was enacted into law in October, 2007. The Federal District Court ruled in Dawn's favor just over a year ago, on January 21, 2009. Attorney General Lisa Madigan appealed that decision. It is that appeal that is being considered by the three-judge panel, tomorrow.
