Liberals celebrate today's
220th birthday of the Bill of Rights

Share |

Today is the 220th birthday of the Bill of Rights.  The first ten Amendments to the United States Constitution were ratified into law on December 15, 1789, 220 years ago, today.

Liberals love it, because it protects the rights of all citizens, even minorities, from the tyranny of the majority.  Conservatives hate it, because it protects all citizens, including minorities, from the tyranny of the majority.

Liberals believe in using their political power to protect the civil rights of all citizens, even those who are different from the majority.  Conservatives believe in using their political power to cancel the civil rights of those citizens who are different from the majority.

Liberals believe that right makes might.  Conservatives believe that might makes right -- far right -- radical, extreme right.

I'm so glad that I'm a liberal.  Aren't you?
