Conservatives agree with Sherman:
Stop State funding of religion

The conservative Illinois Family Institute has come out in support of my efforts to stop the State of Illinois from forcing taxpayers to subsidize houses of worship, parochial schools and religious ministries with direct donations of tax dollars from the State Treasury.

The Southtown Star published a story about it in today's (Wednesday, July 22) edition.  Lawmakers disregarding Constitution is written by Fran Eaton, who is also the editor of the ultra-right-wing Illinois Review.

In Governor Quinn's press release on the Capital Bill, which has come to be known as "Pilgrim Baptist on steroids," Quinn mentions grants for such things as roads, bridges and environmental projects.  The press release, however, doesn't say anything about grants to houses of worship or parochial schools.  Pat must have just forgotten to put that in the press release.  Oops!  Must have been an inadvertent oversight.

You know it's unconstitutional when those on the left and those on the right agree about it.
