The big star was
Richard Whitney of Carbondale. Rich is the Green
Party candidate for Governor. Rich said that the Green
Party is going to run the people's campaign that stands
up for social justice. Rich also spoke emphatically in
support of the need to move America to both wind energy
and solar energy.for non-transportation electricity
needs.
Party State Chair
Phil Huckelberry spoke about efforts by the Green Party
to get Governor Quinn to veto the "Incumbents Protection
Act,"
House Bill 723. That Bill would essentially
eliminate slating of candidates in which no candidate
ran in the primary. Incumbents voted overwhelmingly for
the Bill because they don't want any competition in the
General Election.
