General releases
report on Pilgrim Baptist grant scam
The Illinois Auditor General today released a report on the scam by ex-Governor Rod Blagojevich, the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and the Capital Development Board to donate one million of your tax dollars to Pilgrim Baptist Church to help them rebuild from a fire in 2006.
The scathing report refers, repeatedly, to government officials at those agencies deliberately circumventing internal controls in order to improperly process an unconstitutional grant. The report also recognizes that it was my lawsuit against the ex-Governor and his agencies that single-handedly stopped the million dollars from being given to Pilgrim Baptist.
In addition, the report makes numerous recommendations
for changes in procedures by the Governor's office and
its agencies as a way to make it less likely such
improper grants will be made in the future.
