The City of Chicago boasts about how much more convenient they've made it for the City Clerk to lighten your wallet in regards to the purchase of vehicle stickers. Chicago's very expensive vehicle stickers expire on June 30 of each year.
The village where I live, Buffalo Grove, has a better idea. Here's why:
No more vehicle stickers!
Vehicle stickers are such a pain in the butt! There's the hassle of remembering to buy it, and then making the very inconvenient purchase, scraping off the old sticker (which took forever), trying to get the new one on without folds or bubbles, and deciding exactly where to put it so that it won't screw up your view out the windshield.
However, what really frosted many BG residents like me is that half the people who live here didn't even bother to buy a sticker, and the village refused to do anything about it!
Besides, the cost of administering the program was nearly as much as the revenue that the stickers brought in, so after years of pressure from people like me, the village Board of Trustees voted to ditch the program last year.
Yet another great reason to get out of Chicago and move to Buffalo Grove, the best-run suburb in Chicagoland, as I did over 25 years ago.
