"Fighting injustice, one victory at a time."
Imposters are falsely using my e-mail name, rob@robsherman.com, to send various spam messages that may contain the "So Big" virus. I have received notification from several national internet service providers that they had received spam, purportedly from me, that may contain the virus. The spam came from a variety of dot com domains. The subject lines vary, but are always vague, such as, "Re: Approved," "That movie" and "Wicked Screensaver."
The way the virus works is by obtaining the e-mail addresses from infected computers and sending out the virus to others under the name of someone in the address book. What that means is that the problem is not originating from my computer, but rather from the infected computers of others who have rob@robsherman.com in their address books.
If you want to verify the authenticity of e-mail that you
receive from rob@robsherman.com before
opening it, call me at (847) 870-0700. I will speak with you personally to
let you know whether it is legitimate. I only send e-mail to people who
know me, so if you don't know me, then the e-mail is most likely from an
imposter. If the subject line of the e-mail is vague, it is definitely
from an imposter.
If you receive spam (not regular e-mail) from rob@robsherman.com,
it is not from me. I do not send out spam. It is from an imposter.
IF YOU RECEIVE E-MAIL CONTAINING AN ATTACHMENT THAT APPEARS TO BE FROM ME, DELETE IT. I do not send attachments with e-mail. Ever.
