"Fighting injustice, one victory at a time."
The United States military operates youth recreation programs for dependant children of military personnel. The programs are run by each services' Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) group . The military is in the process of affiliating its MWR youth programs with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. BGCA, however, requires each child to sign a statement certifying that he or she believes that there is a god as a condition of membership. Atheist kids who are military dependents are excluded from military-operated MWR programs unless they sign a statement professing god-belief because they can't gain admission to the activities unless they present their signed BGCA card. Rob Sherman Advocacy is going to do something about that.

This matter was brought to my attention, yesterday, by Brian, a reader in Minnesota. Brian sent word about the work that Mitch Kahle is doing on this issue with his social activist organization Hawaii Citizens for Separation of State and Church. I called Mitch on the telephone, yesterday, and we spoke for about a half hour to discuss progress and strategy. He and I agreed that the cause would be advanced if I would join the fight and pursue the matter from here in the Chicago area, while he continues to make waves (that's a Hawaii reference) out there in Paradise.
At the same time that the government is strongly objecting to the court decision that requires "under God" to be removed from the Pledge of Allegiance, the government is acting to remove atheists from military youth recreation programs by requiring participants to sign a statement certifying god-belief.
Rob Sherman Advocacy is working to reverse those actions by the government. Perhaps now would be a good time for you to financially support my efforts so I can spend full time pursuing these types of issues. Today begins my efforts to deal with the military's association with the no-atheists-allowed Boys and Girls Clubs of America. Check back here in the coming days to see what progress is being made. Your financial support of this effort would be appreciated.
