Sherman Advocacy to Ask US State Dept. to
Sever Diplomatic Relations with Vatican

Tomorrow, Rob Sherman Advocacy will ask the U. S. State Department to cut off diplomatic relations with the Vatican.  Sherman Advocacy will also urge the state departments of all other countries that are concerned about the welfare of children to do the same thing.

The government in this country has looked the other way for decades at one report after another about priests who are child molesting sexual predators.  Things have gotten so bad that, just this year, 176 priests have been removed from Roman Catholic dioceses in 28 states, according to an AP story by Rachel Zoll (back-up link).

It's time for the government of our country to put its foot down and say that we will no longer tolerate these perverts preying upon our children when they said that they were just praying with our children.  The way to send that message is to cut off diplomatic relations.

It may come as a surprise to you, but our country has diplomatic relations with the Roman Catholic Church.  The Vatican is an independent state by treaty with Italy.  The State Department of the United States has an embassy there.

When Arthur Anderson betrayed the trust of the American people, the Justice Department of the United States showed no mercy and went after the whole corporation.  The State Department should respond with equal vigor towards the Church of Pedophilia.

Francis Cardinal George is the head of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago.  His ego is so big, he calls himself His Eminence.  Last week, Mr. George said that he would oppose a zero tolerance policy towards priests who get drunk and have sex with a sixteen- or seventeen-year-old girl.  Hey, Frankie, when a man has sex with a girl who is under the age of eighteen, it's called statutory rape here in Illinois.  It's a felony, Frankie.  Besides, that sixteen- or seventeen-year-old girl is the daughter of two of your parishioners, people who contribute money to your organization.  Doesn't the concept of betrayal mean anything to you?

Frankie George thinks that it is forgivable for his priests to molest Chicago area children.  He is willing to give a second chance to his employees who not only are perverts but who are child-molesting sexual predators.  These are the values of the Roman Catholic Church, as articulated by the boss of the Chicago region of that church, and this is the same guy who many think may be the next "Mr. Infallible," as in pope.

Atheists do not share the values of the Roman Catholic Church, and our government should make it clear that they don't share the values of the Roman Catholic Church, either.  We are not willing to tolerate having a diplomatic relationship with a state that is willing to tolerate the citizens of their country molesting the children of our country.  The United States government should cut off diplomatic relations with the Vatican.

Tomorrow, I will ask the State Department to immediately terminate diplomatic relations with the Vatican.  In my news conference that will announce this action, I will ask that the state departments of all other countries which are concerned about the welfare of children do the same thing.

Many corporations around the world terminated their relations with Arthur Anderson because Anderson betrayed the trust of the public.  I will ask the countries from around the world to do the same thing with the Vatican because the Vatican has also betrayed the trust of the public.
