It didn't take long for me to work my magic, this time.
The College of DuPage has cancelled the "Significant Atheists" class in response to National Atheists' request that they do so.

As first reported over the weekend in an Alt Atheism forum, and as reported here on Sunday, the College of DuPage, in a western suburb of Chicago, was offering a class during the Spring, 2001, semester, entitled, "Significant Atheists." In reality, the class was really about a Jews for Jesus guy insulting, ridiculing and finding fault with significant atheists through the use of unsubstantiated rumors and innuendoes.
Yesterday, in behalf of National Atheists, I contacted the office of Dr. Michael Murphy, President of the College of DuPage, to request a meeting at his earliest possible convenience, for the purpose of strongly urging the administration to cancel the defamatory course. I explained why National Atheists and I felt that the course should be cancelled. I was promised a response to my request for a meeting by no later than today.
Later in the day, yesterday, I became aware of the fact that the next meeting of the college Board of Trustees was scheduled for Wednesday at 7:00 PM. I re-contacted the office of Dr. Murphy and said that I would make a full presentation to Dr. Murphy and the Board during the Citizens' Comments section of the Board meeting.
At 8:31 AM today, I received a telephone call from Ed Storke, Associate Dean of Liberal Arts at the College of DuPage. He indicated that my concern had been referred to him, that he agreed with me, and that he had cancelled the course. He said that he felt that this was not the kind of course that the College of DuPage should be offering.
Just as with the Boy Scouts proclamation dispute from last week in Buffalo Grove, National Atheists and I solved the problem through contact with decision makers, a convincing presentation and articulate persuasion. We didn't issue a news release to complain about the problem. We didn't set up picket lines to indicate that we disagree with somebody else's opinion. Instead, we took direct action that got the problem resolved. That action was successful because National Atheists has a reputation from being right about atheist civil rights matters, because National Atheists has an effective plan for getting results, and because National Atheists has the right guy implementing that plan.
As a result of COD's prompt and decisive action regarding the atheist matter, I've withdrawn my complaint with Network Solutions regarding the College of DuPage's use of a .edu Top Level Domain in their web site. The .edu TLD is reserved for four-year degree-granting educational institutions in the United States, but COD's use no longer affects me, so I'm no longer pursuing it.
