Bush Should Apologize

A verbal dispute has erupted between President Clinton and President-select Bush.

In speeches this week, Clinton noted that Bush's victory was not legitimate.  On Tuesday, in Chicago, Clinton said that the only way the Republicans were able to win in Florida was by preventing legal ballots from being counted.  Yesterday, in referring to the close election for United States Senator from the State of Washington, Clinton said that Democrat Maria Cantwell was able to defeat the Republican incumbent only because they actually count all the ballots.

Duh-bya has responded by urging Clinton to cool it.

I have a better suggestion.  Between now and Inauguration Day next Saturday, Duh-bya should:  1) admit that his team stole the election, 2) withdraw from the presidency and 3) turn over the reigns of power to the man who really won, Al Gore.  While the Supreme Court has the power to declare Bush as the next president, the Supreme Court does not have the power to attach any credibility to that declaration.

For a long time, Republicans demanded that Clinton apologize for the Lewinsky scandal.  Well, what Clinton did to Monica, that's what Bush did to the whole country!

Rather than criticize Clinton for telling the truth, what Bush really should do is to start telling the truth.  He can begin that process by apologizing to the nation for stealing the election.
