Rob Sherman Advocacy
Last month, my 12-year-old daughter, Dawn, continued her father's tradition of always looking for a way to help others. Dawn donated 13 inches of her hair to a child who doesn't have any. The donation was made through Locks of Love.
Dawn liked her long hair. In fact, she liked it so much that she felt there must be a child out there who didn't have any but wished she had some to call her own. Dawn knew that if she donated most of her hair to a child who doesn't have any, Dawn could grow her own back, as long as it was, in just a couple of years.
Today, the Daily Herald, the third largest daily newspaper in Illinois, ran a big five-column story on the front page of the Neighbor Section entitled Hair today, gone tomorrow, honoring Dawn for her compassion towards children who are less fortunate than herself. Here is a library/archive copy of the newsprint edition of that story. Click on the newspaper image, below, to make it bigger and easier to read.
